Senator Abdulaziz Yar'Adua

Abdulaziz Musa Yaradua was born on 4 August 1964 in Katsina and hails from Katsina Local Government Area of Katsina State. He got his primary and secondary education from Musa Yar'adua Quranic Model Primary School, Katsina (1970 - 1976) and Nigerian Military School, Zaria from 1976 - 1981. Furthermore, he attended the College of Advance Studies, Zaria from 1981- 1984, then proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he graduated with a B.Sc in Physics (1984 - 1987). Thereafter, he furthered his studies at Rochester Institute of Technology, USA, where he obtained an MSc in Electrical Engineering (1991 -1993).

He started his military career as a soldier and rose to the rank of Lance Corporal before being granted Short Service Combatant Commission in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 22 September 1990. He later converted to Regular Combatant Commission on 16 March 1998. He served in the Nigerian Army Signals Corps. He attended several civil and military courses, seminars, and workshops some of which include the Signals Young Officers

Course, Infantry Young Officers Course, Junior Staff Course, Harris Corporation Technical Training on RF HF and VHF Radios, Training on Satellite Communications, Management Training Course, Spectrum Management Training, Peace Keeping, Force Protection, and Antiterrorism Training. He also held several military appointments ranging between staff, instruction, and command positions. His last appointment was as Assistance Director of Records, Department of Military Secretary, Army Headquarters, Abuja.

He was awarded the Silver Jubilee Medal, Meritorious Service Star, Forces Service Star, and Nigerian Army Sports Personnel Medal. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before his voluntary retirement from the service on 30 September 2010, after 29 years and 4 months of eventful military service.

After a fulfilling and eventful military career as a Lieutenant Colonel, he resigned and ventured into politics in 2010 and joined the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) from 2010 - 2013. After a successful merger between the CPC and other political parties to form the All-Progressives Change (APC), he registered as a member of the APC in 2014.

During the party primaries in 2015, he contested for the Governorship position and later contested for the House of Representatives when the seat became vacant. In 2019, He contested the senate seat to represent Katsina Senatorial District. He served the APC in various categories as secretary, assistant secretary, and member of various committees and have immensely contributed to the success of the party at the state and federal levies respectively.

He contested the senate seat as the candidate of the APC for Katsina Central in 2023 general elections and won convincingly. Presently he is the Chairman of Senate Committee on Army and Chairman Northern Senators Forum. So far, he has sponsored 7 and co-sponsored 3 motions most of which bothers on the security and welfare all Nigerians.

Presently, he holds the title of Mutawallen Katsina and Akijiogo 1 of Ezeokwe Kingdom, Ibagwa Nike (Enugu) and the Agba Akin of Odooro-Ekiti. He is married with 7 children.
